SHROPSHIRE CHARITY NETWORK

All our events are free and are currently bi-monthly. Most events are virtual and we aim for two in person events per year. Details of upcoming events can be found here

The group holds free and informal quarterly meetings for people in Shropshire working within the charity sector and those keen to support not-for-profits in the county.

I co-founded the Shropshire Charity Networking Group with Clair Moelwyn-Williams in 2019. We were keen to set up a group that gives people a platform to make new connections within the charity sector in Shropshire.  When I moved back to Shropshire, from London, one thing I missed was having access to large network of support, both from a large team and from the many sector specific events that took place. I found that many people in Shropshire either work for small-medium sized charities or work remotely for national or international charities and often lack the support networks that are available in larger cities.

The events give attendees the opportunity to discuss the potential to signpost service users to other organisations locally; to share ideas and discuss challenges; to offer support and advice to others in the sector and to explore the opportunity for collaborative working. We have a presenter at each session and have covered topics such as Social Media for Charities, HR and staff wellbeing, Fundraising and the Impact of Covid-19 and Trustee Recruitment and Retention.

I thoroughly enjoy running the events with Clair Moelwyn-Williams, who is a Partner at TCA Accountants, specialising in working with charities. We have been delighted with the response and it has been fantastic to make so many new connections.
